championing dignified emergency accommodation at Housing 2025
We were pleased to exhibit at Housing 2025 this summer, the UK’s largest housing-focused event, where we showcased our work on emergency and transitional accommodation for people at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping.
an educational kit building
Last year Lakes College in Cumbria approached us asking if we could build a small eco-house that could be assembled and disassembled as part of the learning process for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and sustainable building practices. They wanted a true ‘kit’ building that would have some functional elements and that could be erected inside or outside.
introducing “Sojourn”…
With the increasing demand for extra space at home, whether that’s for a home office, a playroom, somewhere for guests to stay or simply a place to escape for a bit of piece and quiet, we’ve created a new range of garden buildings called “Sojourn in the garden”. These are especially desirable because if the Permitted Development criteria is met, then these buildings won’t need planning permission.
a new home for teaching
We recently completed a new home for a college in Ellesmere Port. It’s actually a teaching resource, a fully sustainable house incorporating the latest technologies for energy efficiency and carbon reduction. The house will be used to enable learners to interact with the new technologies and to provide a visual and practical element to learning.
tiny homes: affordable homes
We’re increasingly being involved in projects where the developers are using our tinier homes to provide a more affordable option as part of a larger project. They love the concept of Tiny Homes, which tends to be defined by a maximum floor area of 50 square metres.
MPs say modular homes will over heat
On Wednesday Architects’ Journal (AJ) ran a story with the headline “Stop funding ‘hothouse’ modular homes, MPs tell government” following a statement in a report by the Environmental Audit Committee (paragraph 9), which was looking at how the nation should respond to prolonged heatwaves.
a name change
Why? It’s not a particularly interesting story – it’s one of the usual legal challenges that crop up from time-to-time where corporates with more legal clout are able to put pressure on smaller companies.
delivering buildings
We’ve been involved with a wide range of projects over the last few years and it’s been the more unusual, or those seen travelling down the motorway on the back of a lorry that grab all the attention…!
the air we breathe
There’s been a lot of news recently about the dangerous air quality in our cities – according to government figures, the number of premature deaths attributed to particulate pollution has risen since 2013, but little has been said about the internal air quality of our homes.
Custom Build at Heartlands in Cornwall
We’re slowly moving towards our first ever Custom Build project in the UK. In fact, it’s one of the HCA’s biggest custom build projects and is set up by government to boost house-building by unlocking a wave of new homes designed and built by their owners.
self build your wudl home, in Cornwall
We’ve always allowed our designs to be customised so that our clients can create a dwelle.ing that meets their specific requirements, not unlike buying a car. It’s the perfect opportunity for a Self Builder to personalise their own unique home using our affordable and highly sustainable system.
introducing customisable home options
You can create your own dwelle.ing from the many additions and options… the building can be personalised to meet your needs, desires and budget. You’re making your “dwelle.ing”, unique.
awards for design & sustainability
Last night we received two more awards, one for design and the other for sustainability, at the Manchester Society of Architects annual awards event held at Castlefield Gallery. Both were for a residential project that was completed last year.
exhibiting at the National Homebuilding show
Thank you to everyone that visited our stand at the recent National Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Birmingham. The feedback on our modular prefabricated designs and unique method of building was excellent!
The Crystal – exploring tomorrow’s cities
Last week we jumped on the train to visit Ecobuild at ExCel in London. The exhibition was good, but probably our favourite part of the trip was a whirlwind visit to The Crystal, a sustainable cities initiative by Siemens exploring the future of cities.
British Homes Awards – we won…!!
Last week the winners of the British Homes Awards were announced and we won the Britain’s Future Home competition with our “Lifetime dwelle.ing”…!!
Grand Designs Live – thanks for coming
Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at Grand Designs Live in Birmingham – what a incredible turn out – 64,000 people over the weekend! It was another great show for us.
Gas&Air Studios funky up-cycled chairs & tables
There’s been a lot of news recently about the dangerous air quality in our cities – according to government figures, the number of premature deaths attributed to particulate pollution has risen since 2013, but little has been said about the internal air quality of our homes.
